The music is Johann Sebastian Bach's "Concerto for Two Harpsichords", BWV 1060. I first heard this concerto when I was 17, and have loved it since!
I am involved in the following organizations: Move On Madre Veterans for Common Sense
I am also an environmentalist. We are proud owners of a Toyota Prius and a Nissan LEAF.
Another area I am concerned about is GLOBALIZATION. Current globalization trends such as off-shore outsourcing foster a continuation of colonialism and stifle innovation. If cost cutting were the only consideration, companies could easily hire the on-shore unemployed. I am interested in the effects of globalization on women's lives -- Barbara Ehrenreich's "Global Woman" is a must-read.
I am also interested in the links between capitalism, imperialism and racism.
My mother was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2003 and died in 2006. Read more at the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition.
Professionally, I am a member of: IEEE - The Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers Society of Women Engineers
My undergraduate degree is from Oberlin College in Ohio. I majored in Mathematics and History.
